“Katowice” is the title of a live album from Merzbow & Balázs Pándi. It was recorded on 16th April 2011 in Katowice, Poland, and contains four improvised pieces clocking in about an hour. Limited to 500 copies, the CD will hit the stores in September, via Instant Classic label. It is the first volume of Outlaw Recordings – a series of live albums recorded in Poland.
“It was a great concert, great line up, and really great vibe, as usual every time I play in Poland. For me personally, this recording includes my favorite recorded solo piece in the set” – says Pándi. “We both like free jazz and heavy metal music, so musically it’s more free improvisation / grindcore / free jazz direction than my solo works” – adds Masami.
“This set was particularly really great for a more straight-forward grind core type stuff. I would describe my playing as SBB influenced grind core here and the equipment and the crew being great definitely helped me” – remembers Pándi. How would he describe the music on this album? “Powerful creation through advanced communication”. Well, there’s not much to add here.
